Restoring landscapes through the use of renewable energy

Esther Wanza is passionate about improving the lives of African communities by facilitating increased access to sustainable energy.

She supports over 150 women entrepreneurs in the clean cooking and off-grid solar value chains to develop their businesses. She provides both technical and business advisory to these entrepreneurs. This has led to the development of a cohort of over 150 empowered women and the dissemination of clean cooking products. Households can now save on their fuel consumption which in turn reduces deforestation.

She works at Energy 4 Impact as an Energy Business mentor and is a co-founder at Raynow Energy. She’s also a youth representative to the Res4Africa International Advisory Board. She formerly served as the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) Regional Youth Focal Point for Africa supporting the Food Systems Summit. Esther is committed to championing gender parity in the energy sector, a traditionally male dominated field.

As an advocate for gender mainstreaming in the energy sector, she was invited to speak in the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Innovation Week and Vienna Youth Forum 2020.
