Principal Environment Officer/County Director of Environment–Murang’a County: National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) (Compliance and Enforcement Department)
Responsibilities
- Oversighting the Counties growth and success on matters environment; through ensuring compliance with EMCA cap 387 and its regulations.
- Coordination and supervision of implementation of the county devolved environment functions and building capacity of county staff on same functions.
- Investigating and managing all environmental incidents and Carrying out environmental inspections within the county.
- Promoting public participation and partnerships, education for sustainable development, and development of County Action plans and state of Environment plans.
- Establishing collaboration and operational structures between NEMA and other stakeholders.
- Undertaking research on Environmental degradation and its impacts on ecosystem services provisioning, land restoration and catchment management.
- Recommending to policy makers on the proper management of the environment.
