John is the Vice-Chair of the KEPSA Environment, Water and Natural Resources Sector Board (representing the Kenya Tourism Federation Environment Committee), the Climate Business Information Kenya (CBIN-K). and actively contributed in the development of interventions relating to the management of environment and natural resources, in line with KEPSA’s commitment to the improvement of the overall business environment in Kenya through timely public-private engagements.
He holds Certificate in Conservation Education (International Centre for Conservation Education, UK), Diploma in Environmental Management (Galilee International Management Institute (Galilee College, Israel); Bachelor of Education Science (University of Nairobi); Masters of Environmental Science, and Ph.D in Environmental Studies, (Kenyatta University). In addition he has organized capacity building programs, and attended local and international fora on environmental management.
He has a long working administrative experience as Environment Education Officer (National Museums of Kenya), Head of Tourism Department and Deputy Director of Studies (Kenya Utalii College), and has training on corporate governance. He has also served as lecturer/part time lecturer in Environmental Studies & Management, and sustainable tourism at Kenya Utalii College, Kenyatta University, Moi University, United States International University (Nairobi), and University of Nairobi.
John is a practicing consultant on environmental management and sustainability. He is Lead Expert in Environmental Audit/Environmental Impact Assessment (National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), Lead Member (Environmental Institute of Kenya (EIK), member of the Tourism Professional Association, Ecotourism Kenya, Kenya Bureau of Standards Technical Committee on Environmental Management Systems, and has served as a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature & Natural Resources (IUCN) Committee on Communication an Education. In addition, he has demonstrated competence in environmental matters, experience in capacity building and research in several Kenya and other Africa countries.
