 The webinar will showcase existing national environment and Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) monitoring frameworks, identify some monitoring platforms and processes to contribute to the national FLR progress reporting as well as identify lessons learnt, gaps and the way forward for FLR monitoring in Kenya. 

Our key note speakers are Prof Hamadi Boga: Principal Secretary – State Department for Crop Development and Agricultural Research and Dr. Chris Kiptoo: Principal Secretary – Ministry of Environment and Forestry. We will also have speakers from the Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Forestry Research Institute, Kenya Water Towers Agency, Council of Governors, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), Global EverGreening Alliance and World Resources Institute (WRI).

 

Goal and objectives

Goal: Develop a shared vision for coordinated and integrated Forest Landscape Restoration monitoring and reporting framework and mechanisms for Kenya.

 Objectives of the Webinar are:

  • To call for synergies, collaborations on FLR development, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • To showcase existing national environment and FLR monitoring frameworks.
  • To identify some monitoring platforms and processes to contribute to the national FLR progress reporting.
  • Identify lessons learnt, gaps and way forward for FLR monitoring in Kenya.
