Dr. Winfred Musila is the Director of Ecosystem Research, Planning and Audit at the Kenya Water Towers Agency (KWTA). The Agency coordinates and oversees the protection, rehabilitation, conservation and sustainable management of water towers in Kenya. Dr Musila provides strategic leadership on water towers research, planning and audit of rehabilitation activities. The research conducted provides information on the status of water towers for effective and efficient decision making on sustainable management of the water towers.  Dr. Winfred Musila has over 20 years’ experience in environmental and conservation issues and has published widely in various journals, articles, and contributed to book chapters. Before joining KWTA, Dr. Musila was a Programme Coordinator of the System for Land Based Emissions in Kenya (SLEEK) program based at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. She was also a Senior Research Scientist at the National Museums of Kenya in over a period of 12 years where she conducted plant ecological and biodiversity research in various ecosystems in Kenya. She holds a PhD in Forest Ecology from University of Hohenheim, Germany, M.Phil in Environmental Science from Moi University and a B.Sc. in Botany and Zoology from Egerton University
